How can we help?

Most answers are below. There's no account and no in-app chat, so email is how you reach a person.

Before you email: tell us your phone model, your Android version and the app version (Settings, About and legal). Please don't send your tasks or a backup file: we don't need them to help, and they're yours.

Common questions

Paths like Settings, Danger zone mean: open the Settings tab, then the Danger zone section.

My reminders arrive late, or not at all

Reminders are scheduled on your phone, but your phone's notification and battery settings decide when they're shown. Check these in your phone's Settings, Apps, Taskinator:

  1. Notifications are allowed for Taskinator.
  2. Alarms and reminders (exact alarms) are allowed, if your phone lists it.
  3. Battery: if your phone has a strict battery saver, let Taskinator run unrestricted.

After a restart, Taskinator schedules your reminders again by itself. Please don't rely on Taskinator alone for medication or anything where a missed reminder could cause harm.

Tasky doesn't hear me
  1. Allow the microphone for Taskinator (your phone's Settings, Apps, Taskinator, Permissions).
  2. Tap the mic in the quick-add bar on Day or Month, then speak. The word “Tasky” is optional on the mic button.
  3. Speak English. The screens can be Afrikaans, but Tasky understands English.

Your phone's own speech service turns speech into text. On phones that can't do that on the device, it needs an internet connection.

How does hands-free work? (Pro)

Turn on the Hands-free chip on Day or Month, or the switch in Settings, then say “Tasky, …”. It listens only while Taskinator is on screen and ignores anything that doesn't start with “Tasky”.

While it listens it keeps the screen on and mutes notification sounds, so it works best on charge. One tap on the chip switches it off, and it stops when you leave the app.

Tasky got it wrong

Say “Tasky, undo” or tap UNDO on the message. Tasky changes only what its reply says it changed.

You can also end what you say with “edit” to open the task editor already filled in, or “cancel” to drop it.

Moving to a new phone
  1. On the old phone: Settings, Export backup, and save or share the file somewhere you can reach from the new phone.
  2. On the new phone: install Taskinator, then Settings, Restore backup and pick the file.
  3. Bought Pro? Tap Restore purchase on the new phone, signed in to the same Google Play account.

The backup file is yours. Taskinator can't reach it once it's saved, so delete it yourself when you no longer need it.

Pro, the 14-day preview and refunds

You can try every Pro feature free for 14 days, once per install, from the upgrade page. No card needed and nothing renews. Settings shows the days left. When it ends, your tasks all stay; the Pro features switch off until you buy.

Pro is a once-off purchase through Google Play, which handles payment and refunds under its own policies. Use Restore purchase to get Pro back on another phone or after reinstalling.

Autopilot suggests things I don't want

Delete the suggestion and Autopilot learns not to suggest it. To start over, use Analytics, Autopilot, Reset memory: that erases what it learned and its encryption key. You can also switch Autopilot off.

How do I delete my data?

Your data lives only on your phone, so you delete it there and don't need to ask us.

  • Everything: Settings, Danger zone, Delete all data
  • What Autopilot learned: Analytics, Autopilot, Reset memory
  • The app and all its data: uninstall Taskinator

What each one removes and keeps is on deleting your data.
